It's great to see you!! I think you'll really enjoy it here. My sister, as she was learning ASL, went to one of the churches in town that had a large deaf community so she was able to practice almost every week. I think it really helped her.

Because I'm from the UK, I learnt BSL (British Sign Language), so not quite the same, but I really enjoy it. I'm a bit out of practice, but generally I'm OK.
Hi EldarLOTRFan! Hope you like Meduseld!

Because I'm from the UK, I learnt BSL (British Sign Language), so not quite the same, but I really enjoy it. I'm a bit out of practice, but generally I'm OK. Hi EldarLOTRFan! Hope you like Meduseld! Yes, I had heard from the teacher of the group that ASL is not 'universal', but I just love it!! I am hoping to encourage myself to stick with it. Having someone to practice with would be a great advantage!! Our church had two deaf people who have since moved on. Maybe if I get in touch with one of them, they can offer some ideas on how I can practice with someone from their community. I am glad to hear Elessar is not only a great mod, but a popular one too! I thank you kindly for the very warm welcome!

I'm glad you came here! I like you a lot already And yes, Elessar is pretty popular here, and he makes a great mod!! With sign language, I have heard many times that if you don't practice, you lose it. With my sister being deaf, and me still living at home, I haven't been away from it long enough to find out for myself, but that's what I've always heard. So finding someone to talk to who is deaf is a very good thing!

Welcome, EldarLOTRfan!
The Joy of Signing is the main book I use. I love the author! Not only has she made it easy to read how to make the signs, but she has a lot of words in the book that other signing books don't have. Whenever I need help, I know I can turn to her!

I have that book too! Whenever I see it I think of the movie "Project X" because Matt Broderick uses it to learn ASL to talk to chimps. I bet not one person here has see that movie.
Welcome to Meduseld, Eldar ;D
