Neneithel turned to the Balrog. "I spoke without thinking. I see that you are a kind being. Forgive my words. I have listened too long to tales of Gondolin. My people have long memories and too often let anger take the place of wisdom. If I can make amends, I will."

Eloise smiled. She had forgotten about the other newcomer in her shame over scaring Ethaliana. She had been to concerned about orcs to even notice the stranger's words. "There is nothing for me to forgive and no ammends to be made. You did what most other people would do, you cannot help your instincts."

"Apology accepted." Ethalinia said, still not looking the Balrog directly in the eyes. She saw Simbelmyne calling her toward the river, but hesitated before following. After the Balrog spoke again, she looked up at her, and saw that her eyes did not give off a feeling of evil, but a friendly and gentle feeling, and her fear of her left completely.
"Thank you, but I will go down to the River with Simbelmyne. My family needs my help." She wiped away her tears, and took off back towards the river.
"we . . . we were crossing the river, my dad went a cross once to see how deep it was, and check the current, when he came back he said it was fine, but when we all crossed, my little sister . . . I think she got picked up in the current," she said when she had caught up with Simbelmyne, as she talked, she remembered more and more "my mom went after her, but she got pulled into a part of the river where the water was going too fast. My brother and dad went to try and help them, leaving me with my older sister, telling us to stay where we were, in the middle of the river, because we knew that where we were standing it was safe, and then . . . and then . . ." she broke out in a fit of tears, but quickly fought them off. "And then, we watched them disappear under the water, we watched for what seemed like hours, but it must not have been more than 30 seconds or so, then my sister just couldn't stand it anymore, and she jumped in after them. I was holding onto her before she jumped, so I lost my blance, and I fell too, I tried to get to the shore, but I don't know what happened next, everything went blank, I just remember waking up on the bank" A single tear rolled down her cheek "thats all I remember."

Neneithel followed Ethalinia to the river. She had never before felt anger towards water. The current was swift and strong, like the Forest River.
She offered the girl the best hope she could find. "The current may carry someone a long way. If they had been brought above water far downstream, they may have been able to breathe. I used to live near such a river, and it did not always kill those it seized. They may even be waiting for you in a village downstream. If they are not, I promise, you will not be abandoned to your fate. Here are four who will protect you."

Eloise followed the others down to the river, keeping well back from the edge. "Do not worry. Where were they traveling to? It is likely they are already there and are waiting for you." Her words carried more hope than she felt.

(((OOC: Chloe, do you want Ethalinia's family to be dead or alive in the end?)))
Simbelmyne, reaching the river edge, thought for a second before giving a high-pitched whistle. A minute of silence passed, and then Simbelmyne looked up at the sky. "They are come!"
Flying towards them were three eagles, their wings spread and their eyes intent on the gathering. They stopped, hovering above the waters. Simbelmyne spoke a few words to them: she spoke the the tongue of the Eagles, and none could understand what she said. After a few quiet words, she turned to Ethalinia. "They will search by air. Their eyes are keen ~ they can see beneath the water. We will travel now by boat. Come, there is a village not far from here." She saddled Mithelen and pulled Ethalinia up behind her. "Eloise, I have no steed to bear you, but I do not wish to leave you. Will you come by foot, or will you stay and wait for news from the Eagles? I am sorry it is coming to this so soon, but..." She sighed. "What is your choice?" She turned to Neneithel. "Will you come with us, or stay with Eloise. I believe she might like a little company."

Eloise held up a hand. "neniethel, there is no need for you to stay. I might not be able to ride a horse, but I have other methods of transport." She spread her wings. "Give me a few minutes to take off and I'll be ready to go!" Eloise ran back up the river bank to higher ground. She spread her wings again and started to run. With a hop skip and a jump she was up, gliding across the river. Then she was back down again- in a heap. She got up and dusted herself off. "Oops! I think it might take a bit of practise! I haven't flown for a few hundred years." Embarreased she ran back up the bank to try again. Within a few minutes she was airborn, circling beside the eagles and getting very strange looks from them, as if they were haughty at sharing the same airspace with such a clumsy flier. (( see! balrogs can fly! ))

Neneithel sprang lightly into the saddle and followed Simbelmyne, glad to be with someone who knew these lands. The sight of the Balrog in flight was impressive. She would not forget that!

((impressive? You do know she crashed first right? this could be a bumpy ride...)) Eloise had to keep doubling back. She could only stay airborne is she went fast. Unfortunatly this was too fast for the horses to keep up. The eagles stared at her swooping back and forth and called to each other in their own language. Eloise was sure they were laughing at her.

Simbelmyne looked up at Eloise. She kept doubling back. "Go as fast as you need, mellon nin!" she yelled up. "We can catch up later! Wait for us outside the next village you come to on a straight road!" She patted her horse to speed her up, and waved at Eloise, who was already far ahead.

((OOC: This RPG is getting kinda hard for me to keep up with because I've been so busy lately, sorry, I didn't realize how much time this was going to take, so if I take an unexplained leave for a few days, I will be back within two days! I promise!
Also, to answer Simbelmyne's question, I think that I want all of Ethalinia's family except her younger sister to be alive at the end.
Sorry, I don't have time to post anything else, but I promise that I will write more for the RPG ASAP!))

Neneithel bowed in the saddle to the newcomer, always glad to meet one of her own kind. "I am Neneithel, originally of Eryn Lasgalen. We are in search of the family of Ethalinia and the friends of this halfling, Master Meredith Thornbank. Simbelmyne there knows these lands well. We have another companion, who has gone ahead. She is a Balrog, but I give my word that she is good."

"Suilad Galadeth!" Simbelmyne called down her horse. "Do you have horse and saddle? We are riding to the nearest town. We need boats to search for Ethalinia's family." She gestured at Ethalinia, and then turned back to Galadeth. "Come! We ride fast today!"
