Lavan (pl levain) means animal, but does not refer to reptiles or insects.
bear - brôg, medli (medli means honey-eater and gives rise to the adjective medlin meaning honey-eating or bear-like. bird - aew, fileg, filigod (all mean small bird). butterfly - gwilwileth creature - ûn crow - corch deer - aras dog - hû dove - cugu dragon - amlug eagle - thoron, thôr elephant - annabon fish - lim fox - rusc frog - cabor goose - gwaun gull - gwael, maew, mŷl horse - roch hound - rŷn kingfisher - heledir lion - raw nightingale - merilin, dúlinn, tinúviel (poetic, means "daughter of twilight") rat - nâr raven/large crow - craban sea serpent - limlug serpent - lhûg snake - lŷg spider - ungol swallow - tuilinn swan - alph wolf - draug, garaf, woodpecker - tavor yellowhammer (a kind of bird) - emlin
