Hello all!
I know a lot of you have signed up to be part of the study buddy program we started to organise to help you learn Elvish. However, there aren't enough people available to be a "tutor" for everyone wanting to learn Elvish, so I thought that you could pair yourselves up, or I can choose the pairs if you like, and you can work together like that.
I could write up some lessons for you to work through every few weeks, but I think that the best lessons for learning Sindarin are the ones by Gildor-Inglorion at the Council of Elrond (www.councilofelrond.com). You have to become a memeber of the site to access these lessons, so if this is a problem for anyone, let me have your email and I can send them to you.
You can get together in your pairs (or work on your own if you like) and study the lessons, and then I'll set up a thread where you can discuss any problems you might have with them, and we'll try to all work through the lessons at the same speed - how does two weeks per lesson sound? If you have any questions at all, please ask them, and I or someone else will try to help. There are excercises in the CoE workbook, and you can also practice by doing the games in this forum, and practicing translations of your own.
Sorry, this probably doesn't make any sense at all, and if you're confused, please let me know. I'd like to get this up and running fairly soon, so please give me feedback if you think there are better ways of us learning. Also, if you could direct people to this thread, as some people may not check this forum very often, and it would be a shame to start without anyone!
By the way, I am talking about learning Sindarin, rather than Quenya, as it's the language with which I am most familiar and find easiest, but if anyone would prefer to learn Quenya, then let me know, and I'm sure we can sort something out.
