OK, I'm introducing the first screenplay assignment now. Here it is:
A Long-expected Party and The Shadow of the Past
The assignment is to write dialogue and stage directions for these two chapters, preferably following these guidelines:
Post what you've done on your screenplays in the Screenplay discussion thread within a couple of weeks. We'll take a look, comment, and when we've had a few, we'll cut them together for Meduseld

A Long-expected Party and The Shadow of the Past
The assignment is to write dialogue and stage directions for these two chapters, preferably following these guidelines:
- Concerning Dialogue - some dialogue straight from the books, but some made up too. We're not creating an exact copy - we're incorporating the essence of Tolkien into what we're writing. We aren't allowed to copy large chunks of the books into
- Concerning the History of the Ring - remember, since we're doing this without a prologue (although we may write one at some point) it needs to tell us everything we need to know. You can have flashbacks, you can have just Gandalf talking and really use your imagination.
- Concerning Changes - you can make small changes (e.g. M&P and the fireworks incident), but try to stay close to the books.
