" After an hour or two they had lost all clear sense of direction, though they knew well enough that they had long ceased to go northward at all. They were being headed off, and were simply following a course chosen for them - eastwards and southwards, into the heart of the Forest and not out of it." I can't actually put my thoughts for this chapter down yet, as my parents want me off the computer... but hopefully tomorrow.

Oh, this library is as quiet as the other one!
Anyway, I thought this chapter to be so scary. I mean, imagine trying your darndest to head in one direction and feeling like there are evil forces at work forcing you in the exact direction you were trying to avoid!

When I was little I had nightmares about Old Man Willow! Despite that, I really like this chapter though. Tom Bombadil is, I think, an important character because he is the only one who is resilient to the evil of the ring. I read somewhere the he and Goldberry kind of represent the Adam and Eve who didn't sin. I'm not sure I think of it quite that way, but I found it interesting. I also like him and Goldberry because it kind of shows on a smaller scale what the world is like. There house is surrounded by dark and evil things and they are a light in the darkness and show that good overcomes evil.

Awesome points Bran! I read somewhere that Bombadil was Tolkien himself... But yeah; this chapter's kind of scary, just like being lost in the woods! lol. Although, I'm not so sure the trees are evil per se... I mean, they certainly are not on a level with Sauron! I kind of see them as rather disgruntled and mean, but not truly evil. Although, thinking about Old Man Willow and how he almost drowned Frodo and killed the others....
