So if you could swap places with anyone from the films and take on their skills and stuff, who would you be?
I think I'd probably want to be Gandalf. You get to be involved in most of the action and you don't even die properly. Also he doesn't have a horrible death and he doesn't end up with any mental scars from the whole thing.

I'd like to be Legolas. I have a thing about bows and Elves. His skills are the ones I most want. On the other hand, Sam went to the very end of the quest and that must have felt good afterwards. I'd like to think I could do that too, but in reality, I'd snap like a dry twig as soon as things got really bad. Not for anything would I take on Frodo's burdens or Aragorn's. Éowyn has a good part, but having to marry Faramir at the end would put me off. Legolas gets to help Ithilien and then go west. Yes, Legolas.

I would probably choose Aragorn or Sam. They both have qualities that I admire. Sam is such an awesome character. He changes so much through the story, but still remains down-to-earth and loyal.

I would swap to be Eowyn. I love her strength both mentally and physically, and yet the way she is still quite feminine.
I think Galadriel and Aragorn would also be interesting to swap with. Galadriel is a very inwardly strong character, Aragorn is going through a unique situation. I think they'd be interesting to swap with.

If I could swap places with any of them it would have to be Either Merry or pippin who between them won the war of the ring for the free peoples

Hm.... I'd like to switch places with Galadriel. She has lived for a very, very long time, has seen a lot of things, is one of the great leaders of her people, and can basically read minds. How awesome is that? Oh, and shes related to a lot of neat people too. It would be pretty neat to have Arwen as a granddaughter.

I think that I would like to be Galadriel. As someone else said, she can basically read minds. Plus she's so wise and intelligent. Also, she's an elf, and elfs are awesome, and they can walk ontop of snow, which fascinates me! ;D

Ever thought of learning one of the Elvish languages? I'm learning Sindarin, and it's fun.

Neneithel, suilad mellon nin! You are on Gildor-Inglorion's lessons on CoE, right? I looked at the word lists, but I'm not very good when it comes to languages Navaer/Namarie, Simbelmyne

Yes. Those lessons are great, simple enough for even an idiot like me. I can write a bit of poetry in Sindarin now. This is the latest.
Nuin Venel
Nuin venel, chae a raudh, Reviar i chîn edhil Linnol pen bost an Elbereth, "Calad faen athan Silmaril." Faug an ngalad, sogar bân I galad lend uin elenath A tiriar ah anwar dhaer A gannadar nan Remmirath
Under the Sky
Under the sky, distant and cavernous, Wander the children of the elves Singing unceasingly to Elbereth, "Radiant light, beyond a Silmaril." Thirsty for light, all drink The sweet light of the star host And gaze with great awe And play harps to the netted stars.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you ever need a few words of Sindarin, I'm always happy to try translating phrases. It's good practice. I'm working on a little phrase book. Here are a few of the phrases Do not kindle anger in an immortal heart ~ Avo thano rûth vi gûr alfirin
Forgive me ~ Goheno nin get well soon (lit. swift healing) ~ nestad geleg Distant friends not far from the heart (a toast). ~ Mellyn chaeryn ú-chaeryn o i 'ûr Wait for me here ~ Dartho sí enni. Do not stray, friend, Orcs hide(conceal themselves) here ~ Avo misto, mellon. Yrch delior aner sí.
I have something to to tell you ~ Gerin nad peded achen I wish to speak ~ Aníron peded
The following exchange is my favourite:
They have a cave troll ~ Gerir dorog 'athrod. But we have Boromir ~ Dân gerim Voromir. They do not have Aragorn ~ Ú-'erir Aragorn. A cave troll does not look beautiful ~ Torog 'athrod ú-thia bain. It doesn't say, "They have a cave troll." ~ Ú-bêd, "Gerir dorog 'athrad." The words have mastery ~ In bith gerir dûr. They have mastery as he says them ~ Gerir dûr sui pêd ren. And this is useful when your Sindarin runs out. Forgive me! Alas! My knowledge abandons me. ~ Goheno nin. Nae! Ist nín awartha nin.
I'll shut up now. I could bore people to death with this stuff! If you want to learn Sindarin, those lessons are ideal. There is even someone to check your work, and she has endless patience.
WOW very cool Neneithiel!! I know a little Sindarin, but can't translate anything. I would like to be either a ranger who came with Halbarad, a rider of Rohan, or one of the healers. Or Eowyn...Actually, I would like to be anyone who fought against Mordor in any way.
