Gollum's Song is good at describing Gollum, but I just didn't like it that well. It is too full of self pity. Gollum had a sad, hard, bitter life and it was his own fault. I would rather hear about heroism and things like that then about Gollum. But that's just my opinion.

OK...who apart from me thought the soundtracks were absolutely BRILLIANT? (Someone fetch Ainu for me ) hehe Sim- you got the right person! I could spend days on end listening to the soundtracks, Howard Shore has to be the most brilliant person alive. I find that Gollum's song grows on you. I didn't warm to it very much at first, maybe because I was expecting a song worthy of Enya's May it Be, and Gollum's song is a tad bit painful to the ears. But after listening to it over and over, it's a very unique beautiful piece, and it's just so... Gollum. (how eloquent) Emiliana Torrini has a very interesting voice. I read somewhere that the original singer was supposed to be Bjork, and I guess we can see the similarity.

I think that you should have to hear Gollum'ssong a couple of times to appreciate it. The first time I heard it, I hated it, but after a few times, I came to realize that it's a wonderful song. Maybe not as beautiful as May It Be, but a lot more mysterious and sad.

So what does everyone think of the RotK soundtrack? I dont' know if theres already a thread somewhere for this.
I thought most of it was absoloutely amazing, just like the other two soundtracks. I didn't really like the very last song though. I don't really know why.

It's beautiful! I got it for Christmas and I keep listening to it. My favourite is The Steward Of Gondor (Pippin's song). I don't know why, but #5 (or #7) is on almost all of my cd's the best track.

I listened to it today ( I borrowed it from my Aunt) and it's SO beautiful. I love it all, but it's so sad. I was crying from just listening to it, especially "Into the West". I can't wait to get my own copy of it.

I have all three, and I really agree that Shore is perfect for these movies. My favorites always have something to do with Rohan, but I loved Gollum's Song the first time I heard it (at the theater). It came on so spooky; I stayed until the end. (Reminds me somewhat of the voice quality of "Thank You Stars" from an alternate soundtrack of Watership Down) [/b]

The ROTK soundtrack hasn't been out of my CD player since I got it; it's absolutely amazing! My favourite track is probably number four - the Beacon Lighting Tune - it just makes you want to go out and do heroic deeds! And Into the West makes me cry every time. And the Grey Havens. The ROTK soundtrack is probably my favourite one out of the three, although there are wonderful tracks on all of them.

So I'm not the only one who cries when she hears the soundtrack. I always cry at track 17, when I know that Aragorn says "You bow to no-one". I always listen to it right before I go to sleep.

I love all the soundtracks, but i would have to say that Track #5 on ROTK is my favorite. Pippin's song makes me cry everytime i hear it! Into the West is my favorite too. I have to listen to that at least a dozen times each day...it's great!

As a musician myself, I must say the quality of music on the soundtracks is astounding. Howard Shore is a pure genius. As for my favorites, I'd have to say the FOTR and ROTK soundtracks; TTT was just a little too... hectic?... martial??... for me. And definitely 'May it Be' and 'Into the West' are fav songs! Enya's got some amazing talent and no singer has a voice like Annie Lennox!

I've heard Annie Lennox's music before, and I really like her. I also like the way Howard Shore chose some singers with very unusual voices.
