OK...who apart from me thought the soundtracks were absolutely BRILLIANT? (Someone fetch Ainu for me ) I really loved the soundtracks - Howard Shore is a genius (And it was his birthday yesterday too!) On FoTR, my fave tracks were: Concerning Hobbits Aniron The Ring goes South Lothlorien The Breaking of the Fellowship May it Be And on TTT: Foundations of Stone Evenstar Breath of Life Samwise the Brave Gollum's Song All of the above are fantastic tracks - but what are your faves, and your views on Howard Shore and the soundtrack?

I love the soundtracks. TTT and PotC were both up for a soundtrack award, and I voted for TTT (anyone who's heard PotC's soundtrack knows what a compliment that is). TTT won! Yippee! Howard Shore is wonderful!

I actually just bought TTT soundtrack toady, I've listened to it twice and absoloutely love it! I can't wait until I get my allowance so I can buy the FOTR soundtrack.
I think that Howard Shore is a genius! The music is absoloutely wonderful. I think he really caught the emotion of the story and put it to music beautifully.
I couldn't really say what my favorite song is, because they are all just so wonderful. I do like Gollum's Song a lot, Emiliana Torrini (did I spell her name right, and did I get the right name?) really put emotion into it. Anyone could just sing that song, but she really sang that song, if you know what I mean.

I love the soundtracks too! There's a road by my house that's called "Grandmother's Lane" because of how woody and hilly it is. I put the soundtrack in, set the cruise control, put the volume up to max, roll down my windows and I'm in Heaven.
Let's see, my favorite tracks on the TTT soundtrack are "King of the Golden Hall," "Evenstar," "The Leave Taking," "Helm's Deep," "The Hornburg," and "Forth Earlingas." But the other tracks are amazing too!
On the FOTR soundtrack, these are my favorites: "Concerning Hobbits," "Flight To The Ford," "The Council Of Elrond," "The Bridge Of Khazad Dum," and "The Breaking Of The Fellowship."
Cool thread!

Does anyone know where I can get an actual score for the Lord of the Rings music? Gollum's Song in particular, but any of them would be good.

Howard Shore is wonderful! Neneithel oh I know!! PotC is AWESOME but I prefer LotR. (I actually have a pretty interesting story about how I got my PotC soundtrack. It would take to long to say it all, but it involved going to the store every day for 4 days:P) My fav tracks are The Breaking of the Fellowship and The Golden Hall. BofF is so sad. but I love it It makes me think of Boromir.

The soundtracks are awesome...I love Concerning Hobbits and The Great River in FOTR and in TTT I like Isengard Unleashed. I HATE GOLLUM'S SONG!! WILL SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS SO WONDERFUL ABOUT IT? IS IT REALLY SERIOUSLY "GOOD"? EMILIANA TORRINI DOESN'T SING, SHE WHINES AND MOANS!!!

If you just sing something technically perfect, it's going to bore everyone to death. She's just putting emotion into it! Emiliana Torrini is putting her heart and soul into the music! It's a sad song, so it might be a good idea to make it sound like she's whining and moaning, because when you're whining and moaning, you're probably sad. In my opinion she doesn't sound like she's whining or moaning, she just sounds sad! When I first heard it I cried! The music gives you an emotion, all music gives you an emotion, atleast for me it does, and the emotion that this song gives me is stronger than any other I've heard in a long, long time. Gollum's Song captures the story of Gollum, and puts it to music, but not only taking some words, and giving them notes, the writer and composer and Emiliana Torrini have told a story with music. What I mean by this, is you could take out the lyrics, just have Emiliana Torrini sing it on some vowel or something, and just listen to the instrumentals, and know exactly what message they were trying to get across, not specifically about Gollum, but about his feelings, his emotions, his sadness, his misery, his longing. So thats whats so wonderful about Gollum's Song. ;D TTFN

Watch the flaming I like Gollum's song because it's right for Gollum. It's not about creating a beautiful sound, it's about creating an emotional sound and that's what makes it beautiful. I agree with Chloe
