***Moved from Welcome! forum by Simbelmyne on 27th September*** Ok, first of all, how do you upload your own avatar? All the avatars are great but I'd like a balrog one also, I'm guessing this probably should have gone in the test forum, is that right? Or is here fine?

It's fine here Eloise ;D OK, you can't upload avies at the moment but if there is a pic on the net you have permission to direct-link (like I direct-link mine from my site) you can type in the URL under the textbox "I have my own pic". If you have a pic on your hard-disk (preferably small) I can upload for you. I have also just uploaded a balrog movie clip ~ under balroganim.gif. You can select in the scrolling box

On second thoughts, it could have gone in there although in Welcome! was fine. I'm going to move it there now, so anyone who has the same question can see it where they'd look for it

hey, is there a limit as to how big the avatars we direct link have to be? like 100x100 pixels or is that not small enough?

I think I'm happy with any size of avatar as long as it's reasonable. 60 x 60 is a good guide, but bigger than that (e.g. 100 x 100) is also OK. Just as long as it's not so big it takes ages to load or stretches out the page Simbelmyne

How do you make an avatar that is made by yourself, like, in paint? And how do you make an animated one by yourself?

To make an avatar you need some sort of graphics program like paint or something. Mine was made in adobe photshope elements which is a good program to use but you need to know how to use it. To make animated avas you need an animation program. Mine's a cheap one downloaded from somewhere that means the pictures only flash, sims is a better one as the pictures move smoothly. You might want to get her to telll you what she uses and look into getting that.

Hehe...mine's not very hi-tech, I have to draw each frame of mine. I use Photodeluxe 4.0 (got it free with a digital camera), and I make each pic I want to use, save them, then using the layers function, put one on top of the other and change the opacity. On the top image with the bottom one coming through, I change the top layer opacity to 70%, save, 50%, save and then 30%, save. On the last frame, I bring the first image under and do the same trick. I use Microsoft Gif Animator, a free and basic program and then I insert each pic in. It can be a bit slow, but it really pays off. If you've got cash to spare, I'd invest in a better one, but I try and run Meduseld with no costs, so I haven't changed mine . As I said, I'm happy to make any avies you want - any requests?
