Signing up

I didn't get my password!
If you didn't receive a password, please email me me with your username and a password you want. I'll change the password for you, you can then log in and I recommend you change your password.

I'm XX years old. Can I sign up?

Unfortunately, due to Proboards TOS and US law, we can't allow you to sign up if you are under 13. I personally trust younger people if they are mature enough, and I know that a lot of people don't. I also live in the UK, but when PBv4 is released, there will be an age check, and users under 13 will have their accounts locked until they are 13. It is also a TOS violation to know there are users on your board under 13 and not remove them, and Meduseld could be deleted for this.

I typed my email wrongly!
Email me with your email address you used to sign up, I'll correct it and I'll send you a password to use.

I created a double account by accident.
OK, give me the name and I can delete it.

These options are all changed from the Profile page (button at the top)

I want a new name/I misspelt it/I want a space or special characters!

In the Name text field, type the new name. You still log in with your old one (your username) but everyone will see your new one.

I want an avatar!
Scroll down the page until you get to "Personalized Picture". Select one from the scrolling box or tick "I have my own pic", type in the URL in the text field and enter its width and height in pixels.

How do I change my signature?
Scroll down the page to "Signature" and enter what you want into the textbox. It must be under 300 characters, but if you have need of a longer one, contact me by PM with it. If you want to use UBBC code, look in the Test Forum for the UBBC code cheatsheet.

Roleplaying

I want to start RPing! How?
It's quite simple to start RPing at Med: create a bio in the RPing bios thread. You can be any race - in fact, the more originality and variety, the better! Think how boring RP would be if all we had was an entire cast of Legolas-type elves! Look at the first bio posted (mine) for a rough example of how to set your bio out.

When you want to start posting as your character, look around all the threads. There are two main types of RP: scripted and free. Signs of a scripted RP are:

• PM to join
  

Signs of a free RP could be:

• Please join!
  
• Open
  
• Free
  

If a thread refers to an OOC or an OCC (both are Out Of Character threads), you can find that thread, with an OOC prefix in this forum. Read this to get an idea of what's going on. Make sure you also read the thread carefully, so you have an idea of how to enter, provided that it's OK with the other RPers for you to join.

What does OOC/OCC mean?
Out of Character. These threads are usually used to discuss the plot. You can also place comments in the thread by writing:
(((OOC: message)))

Does the rule about translations apply here too?
Yes. If your character is speaking a lot of elvish, please include translations.
