It's something that's been thought about for quite a while, but here it is - the user points system at Meduseld!
What can I get points for?
Points will be awarded from the posting of this onwards. My apologies, but it simply isn't feasible to offer points for things before that. Points are also extra-flexible - if you really deserve more than it says on the table, you get them.
What do I actually *do* with them?
Points earn privileges and prizes. Here's the (very sketchy and subject to change) table:
25 - Special volunteer rank and extra stars
50 - Custom avatar and/or sig banner
100 - Custom title
200 - Coloured username
300 - Your own special stars or other icon (I need to investigate this - I believe it is possible, though)
Once you have more than 200, your helpfulness will often be taken into consideration and this may possibly lead to mod status. Further privileges will be added as the need arises.
Who can give them?
Currently, I am the point person. I'll be giving the mods point-giving capabilities fairly soon - mods can also receive points, but note that unless you seek permission for inter-mod giving, in the interests of fairness only I can give them.
That all aside, I really welcome suggestions for the point table and rewards and hope you enjoy getting points. The points are now officially open!

What can I get points for?
| 1 | Helpful post or valuable & insightful contribution to discussion, minor suggestions, starting a roleplay (can be more if RP is of good quality/sticking power), making 3 avatars for the forum (PM/email to me or post in the test forum), craftiness and general initiative  (I expect a lot of this!) |
| 2 | Posting poetry, mystery picture winner or riddle guesser on main site |
| 3 | Posting a fanfiction, assisting admin/mods (negotiable depending on work), writing a review, contribution to the debate (main site). |
| 4 | Contribution to forum projects (e.g. scrapbook made many moons ago for Háthawyn) |
| 5 | Writing an article or fan-made script for the main site (including costumes section), doing a weekly workshop (see Eregion), being member of the month (to be introduced!), major suggestions, challenge or contest winner on main site (excluding raffle, riddles and mystery pic), undertaking forum projects. |
