then shrugged and whispered a command to his horse which accelerated instantly
overhead the trees began to close in on both sodes of the river

((grr, I hate it when I forget to post! I'm really sorry, um eloise met some problems with turbulence and got blown off course a bit, lol, she's a bad enough flier...)
The hour was late when Eloise flopped to the ground near the elven dwelling. One of her wings was bent at a strange angle and her fire was dim. It had been a rough flight. She staggered towards the lights and suddenly found herself surrounded by elven archers. A volley of sharp metal flew towards her. She threw up her injured wing to try and protect herself. Pain flooded through her battered body as the arrows hit and she fell to the ground.

Nestoneth hurried out of her home at the noise. She knew what had landed before her, but with healer's eyes, she also saw that it was in pain and had not expected the attack, not an enemy then. She had never tried to heal a Balrog before. She doubted her herbs would be any use. With many a scowl and many a shriek, she drove the archers away. Elves who had the courage to face a Balrog were not quite brave enough to get in the healer's way. She approached her patient cautiously and spoke in the common tongue, hoping the creature would understand.
"Friend, they are gone. I will try to help you, but we must get you away from here soon. My king will forgive much, but not the sheltering of an elf-bane for longer than is needed. She took a tool from her belt and removed the arrows, wincing with sympathy whenever the balrog moaned. When all were out of the tough hide, she put her hands on the creature and said, "I heal you with the light of Beleriand. Live and forgive the elves who keep long memories. Rekindle the flame of your life."
She called back one of the archers. "Avorn, watch my patient. If any try to harm the creature stop them. If one more injury is done to this patient, I will leave here forever and find some more deserving people to help. I will go and make all this right with the king."
"Good luck." said Avorn.
"After all these years, he owes me one small favour." She left. Soon after, she returned and sent Avorn away. "All is well." she said. She sat down beside the Balrog to be ready if it should need anything.

(OOC I realise my character has no idea about Eloise, but prehaps some one should suggest we make camp and wait for her to catch up
Laerdan thanked the hobbit for the scone then opened her pack and lifted out a sleeping squirel,
"Come melon (friend) it's time you were awake" the squirrel rubbed its eyes and climbed onto Laerdan's shoulder where it shared her scone before eating nuts from her hand.
As the others drew near she asked " Is your mission to find these missing people or do you have some other goal once they have been found?"
