I thought that the part where Frodo sends Sam home was brilliant. It just got the audience to hate Gollum more and feel more sorry for Sam. And it worked on me.

I was so ticked off that Saruman and Grima had been cut out of it altogether! they're two of my favourite characters so when I found out that they wuldn't be in the theatrical version, I felt a bit --> But Denethor catching fire, running down the corridor and then falling off the top of Minas Tirith was just hilarious!!! *lmao* ;D

It sounds awful, but I was actually happy when Denethor died. I hate that man so much (sorry to anyone who likes him). I thuoght it looked cool when he jumped off of the city, I think that's better then just let him burn. That works in the book, but it would look very fake if the would just burn a puppit, and I don't think it's a good idea to burn the actor.

*lmao* don't worry - I think everyone hated Denethor *snuggles poor Faramir* and I luved the way they killed him off. It was so funny!!! Yeah, it's funny he way things and lines work in the book but woudn't work on film, and sitting in the theatre watching John Noble on fire and burning to death on the bonfire thing would have been pretty disturbing. So much more entertaining seeing him get up and run and head straight for the edge of the city *lmao*

Well, it looks as if I'm the only one who didn't mind the changes... "The heresy, the heresy!" lol In my opinion, the books are so huge and have so much detail, it is virtually impossible to set them to film in the interests of time and keeping your audience interested and such. I think Peter Jackson did a phenomenal job on the films, and what he changed, he changed with a purpose. I mean, seriously, the films are great. The edits and cuts were very well done, yet the finished product still managed to maintain the integrity of the original story (even though it was not exact). The films can stand on their own, and the books most assuredly can too. They are different and yet similar, and in existing so, appeal not only to the "book nuts," but also a wider audience. I had not heard of LOTR (only passing references to The Hobbit and I, at that time, was not interested until I heard about the movies, and then was motivated to read the books. Needless to say, I'm glad I did.

I mean, yeah, technically he is a "force of good" since he is a steward of Gondor, buuuut, he was such a... a.... *searches for word suitably nasty yet polite for public viewing* Well, you get the idea.

I mean, I hated him before, but when Faramir says "You wish now that our places had been exchanged. That I had died and Boromir had lived" and Denethor just says "Yes. I wish that" *grrrrrr* And faramir just replies "Since you are robbed of Boromir, I will do what I can in his stead. If I should return, think better of me, father" - poor baby
